 things you may be wondering

  • Every session begins with a 15 minutes grounded check-in so I can understand how you’re arriving and what you’d like to get out the treatment.

We’ll talk about any changes in your health, your comfort preferences, areas you’d like me to focus on (or avoid), and what kind of touch feels safe and good for you.

I’ll suggest a treatment plan for our time together, from which you’ll have the opportunity to suggest adjustments for your preferences and comfort.

This is also the moment to share access needs, sensory preferences, or anything that might help you relax more fully.

  • You’re welcome to wear as much or as little as you’d like during the session. Prior to your treatment, you’ll receive a consultation form you’ll have 3 modesty options as a guide.

When you arrive, if you’ve changed your mind, that’s completely okay. These options are here as a way of helping you manage your expectations and giving you control.

    1. Minimal Draping

A modesty towel is used around the hips, with optional use of a sheet. Ideal if you feel most comfortable with less draping and prefer more freedom during the session.

    2. Standard Draping

You’re covered with a sheet and blanket, with only the area being worked on uncovered. You may undress fully or keep your bottom underwear on. This option balances warmth, privacy, and flexibility.

    3. Fully Clothed

You remain dressed in comfortable clothing throughout the session. Techniques are adapted to work effectively through fabric and support those who prefer more coverage.

There is no right or wrong choice — we work with whatever feels best for you that day.

  • Being trauma-informed means creating a massage experience that prioritizes your safety, comfort, and empowerment, with an understanding that past trauma can affect the body and mind. In practice, this includes:

    • Boundaries: We discuss your boundaries openly before and during the session.

    • Choice: You are given options for pressure and areas of focus so you remain in control of your experience.

    • Check-ins and Self-Advocating: I will check-in throughout the treatment at least twice (as we start and at the mid-point). Throughout I watch your body language for pain indicators, and will verbally check-in when I notice these. At the start of each treatment, I remind you to self-advocate if I do not pick up on your body language. (I know you’re probably accustomed to masking.)

    • Detours and Grounding: If distressing emotions come up, we can redirect the type or area of touch, or I can lead you through guided mindfulness and grounding techniques drawn from trauma-sensitive mindfulness research.

  • Yes. All tools, equipment, and linens are thoroughly cleaned and sanitised between every client. Fresh towels and sheets are used for each session, and any reusable tools — such as brushes, combs, or stones — are disinfected according to professional hygiene standards.

  • Yes — I provide home visits across South London (within roughly 60 minutes by public transport from CR0). There is an additional travel fee of £10. Home visits are ideal for post-operative recovery, mobility access, or simply when rest at home feels best. Home visits are available by request only, just reach out to me via homebody.queermassage@gmail.com.
